When do the Timber Tour and Shred Series events take place?
Exact dates vary each year, but our typical schedule is as follows:
- Timber Tour #1: Late January
- Timber Tour #2: Late February
- Timber Tour #3: Late March
When will the Timber Tour stops be announced?
We aim to finalize our Provincial competition calendars by September at the latest. However, because our schedule relies on the overarching Freestyle Canada events calendar, we cannot guarantee an exact release date.
How do you decide where the Timber Tour stops will be?
Freestyle BC welcomes any member club to submit an application to host a Timber Tour event. Hosts are selected based on several criteria, including date availability, prior hosting experience, terrain and venue quality, accessibility, and resort relations. Whenever possible, we aim to spread our events across different regions of the province.

Where do we find all the important information about an event?
All key information lives on the Event Invite, which you can find by clicking the specific event in our events calendar.
The Event Invite includes everything you need to know, such as:
- Registration links & schedules
- Venue maps
- Lift-ticket information
- Recommended accommodations
When does registration open?
Exact registration dates are shared with clubs first, followed by public announcements on our social media channels and in the Freestyle BC monthly newsletter. Generally, registration opens on the following timeline:
- Timber Tour #1: Opens in November
- Timber Tour #2: Opens in December
- Timber Tour #3: Opens in January
What happens if I miss the registration window?
Historically, Timber Tour events fill up very quickly, while the Shred Series fills up a bit slower. To help ease the rush, we offer an early registration window for our top-ranking athletes before opening general registration to the public.
If an event is full, you can join the built-in waitlist during the registration process. While this does not guarantee a spot, it is your best chance of getting into the event if a vacancy opens up.
💡 Pro Tips for the Waitlist & Registration:
* Check your email regularly! If a spot opens up, an invite will be sent to the next person on the waitlist. These invites have a strict acceptance deadline; if you miss it, the spot goes to the next person in line.
* Renew early! Sort out your Freestyle BC and Freestyle Canada memberships ahead of time to save precious minutes during event registration.
Can I transfer my registration to a friend if I can't make it?
No. In the spirit of fairness, if you need to cancel your registration, your spot will automatically be offered to the first person on the waitlist.
I don’t want to miss out on accommodations, but what if my child doesn't get in?
We recommend booking accommodation only after receiving confirmation of your event registration. If you must book earlier, please ensure you fully understand the refund and cancellation policies of your lodging. Freestyle BC is not responsible for any accommodation-related expenses or losses.
🎿 Eligibility, Licences, & Skill Levels
Which competition level is right for my child?
Please reach out to your child’s Coach or Club Program Director for their recommendations. Events for all skill levels are available throughout the winter season. If your child is younger or new to the sport, we highly recommend starting with Club-level events before progressing to Regional events, the Shred Series, and eventually the Timber Tour.
Can my child 'test out' the Timber Tour but move back down to Shred Series if they don't like it?
No... As per our Timber Tour Guidelines, once an athlete moves into Timber Tour they may not return to competition in the Shred Series events for the duration of the current ski season.
💡 Pro Tip: If your child is 'on the fence' about moving up to Timber Tour, consider using the final event of the season as the 'tester'.
What membership or license does my child need to compete?
Licence requirements depend on the event level:
- Club, Regional, & Shred Series events: Minimum of a Club-Level license.
- Timber Tour events: Minimum of a Provincial License.
- National events: Require a FIS-level license.
What features can we expect in the terrain parks at Shred Series (SS) and Timber Tour (TT) events?
Shred Series courses will include smaller jumps and generally ride-on tubes, rails and boxes. Timber Tour is a higher level so the jumps will be larger, rails and boxes will be more technical but (when possible) harder and easier feature-options will be available.
Features vary by event and each level of event provides competition opportunities for a specific age and stage of athlete. Following provincial and national terrain guidelines, Freestyle BC and the Local Organizing Committees work closely with Host Resorts to ensure every venue offers a variety of features that safely accommodate a wide range of skill levels.
When time and resources permit, the host club may release a course preview ahead of the event.
🛠️ Rosters, Corrections, & SnowReg Support
I registered my child for the wrong discipline. What should I do?
Talk to your coach right away. Your coach can make last-minute changes to the event rosters at the Team Captains’ Meeting (TCM) held the day before the event. While removing an athlete from a start list on the day of the event is straightforward, adding an athlete on the day of the event is difficult and may not be possible. Please plan ahead so your coach has all the necessary information early.
I need to change my child’s registration information. Who do I contact?
- Before the event: Please contact Svin at svin@freestylebc.ski to make updates.
- During the event: Please speak to your coach as soon as possible.
SnowReg forced me to buy a new membership even though my child already has one. Why?
This usually happens if your child has multiple SnowReg accounts, and the current membership is only linked to one of them. While duplicate accounts can be merged and extra membership purchases refunded, the process takes time. Additionally, SnowReg processing fees are non-refundable.
To avoid last-minute frustration, we highly recommend checking your athlete’s account status and login details well ahead of registration night. Contact Svin at svin@freestylebc.ski to arrange account merges or refunds.
🏔️ At the Event (Coaching, Bibs, & On-Site Info)
Our club isn’t sending coaches to an event, but we still want to go. What are our options?
We recommend connecting with other participating clubs to see if one of their coaches can support your athlete for that event.
⚠️ Crucial Rule: All athletes must be actively supported by a certified coach at all events. Any athlete competing without a coach will be removed from the competition, and their scores/results will be struck from the record.
We forgot or lost our Timber Tour competitor bib. What do we do?
All Timber Tour competitors must wear a bib. If you lose or forget yours, please email svin@freestylebc.ski or head directly to the Event Competition Office (Comp Office) if you are already on-site. A replacement bib will be issued, though replacement fees may apply.
What should we do with the competitor bibs once the event is over?
- Timber Tour: Athletes purchase these bibs outright and are welcome to keep them after the competition season ends.
- Shred Series: Shred Bibs MUST be returned to the Comp Office at the conclusion of the event.
Who should I talk to if I have questions or concerns during an event?
Events are fast-paced with many moving parts. As a first step, we always recommend speaking with your athlete's coach. If they cannot assist you, the Event Competition Office is the best place to find up-to-date information.
🤝 Volunteering & Becoming an Official
How can parents get involved?
A great place to start is by helping out at your local club! Volunteers are the backbone of our events, and we greatly appreciate the support. Specific volunteering opportunities and sign-up details will be included in the official event invite package.
Note: All volunteers must register for a license (it’s free!) and complete certain Safe Sport requirements depending on their role. You can secure your volunteer membership on the Freestyle BC Membership Page (https://freestylebc.ski/join/).
I want to become an official. How do I get started?
Being an official is an incredibly rewarding way to experience the sport! The pathway depends entirely on the specific role you want to take on, but all tracks involve a blend of online clinics and hands-on, practical training. For insurance and safety compliance, specific licenses and Safe Sport training are mandatory.
